The Philippine Mars will be (the plan is, anyway) to be heading to Florida in time for the Air Show a week or so prior to AirVenture. The Hawaii Mars is the one headed east for Oshkosh. Also, the Philippine Mars is basically being set up for a ferry to Florida, they are trying to go direct from B.C. to Florida if possible.

Fantastic news - assume this will be the Philippine Mars stopping over before going on to Pensacola?

:D

Apparently it will be Hawaii Mars. I think I might have to find a way to attend the event. This could be an epic year.

Either Mars would be fine with me! Would not mind seeing the Red and White Hawaii Mars at all.

WOW!!! What an amazing prospect! How cool! Certainly makes the other aircraft at the Seaplane Base look rather insignificant (size-wise).

July could be a BUSY month for Mars watching!

I assume (I know this is dangerous!) that you are referring to the mid-July Pensacola Beach air show. That would put the Philippine Mars arriving at Pensacola about a week and a half +or- prior to the Hawaii Mars arriving at Oshkosh.

Please keep us posted if possible on the plans.

Too bad the Sunderland from years ago could not join the fun!

Agree - that would have been fantastic - but Kermit Weeks did not keep that Sunderland flying very long. Would be terrific to see it back in the air again someday.

But between the Sunderland and the Mars, I would pick the Mars as the 4-engine flying boat I most want to see in the air. Looking forward to Oshkosh this summer!

Now here is something that would be terrific to see at Oshkosh this summer to mark the Boeing Centennial!

With Fifi scheduled for Oshkosh and likely to be B-17's there, they just need to get a flying B-52 scheduled....

Should be a great Heritage Flight for those going to Barksdale April 30/May 1!

WWI birds coming to Oshkosh-

April 28, 2016 - Airplanes reaching back to the earliest days of military aircraft will be in the air and on the ground this summer, as the centennial of World War I aviation is a major part of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016, the World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration.

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, the 64th annual Experimental Aircraft Association fly-in convention, will be held July 25-31 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

The airplanes participating at the centennial celebration in Oshkosh will come from museums and collections throughout the U.S., and include vintage aircraft and replicas from such legendary names as Sopwith, Fokker, and Spad from the 1914-1918 era. Activities will include four flying demonstrations: Early mornings on Wednesday, July 27 and Saturday, July 30, and following the daily afternoon air show on Monday, July 25, and Thursday, July 28. The aircraft will also be on static display throughout the week near the Vintage Aircraft Association “Red Barn” headquarters.

“There are several outstanding museums and facilities throughout America that have some of these magnificent aircraft and full-size replicas that fly regularly, but it takes an event such as AirVenture to bring them together,” said Rick Larsen, EAA’s vice president of communities and member programs, who coordinates features and attractions at AirVenture. “These activities are just another reason for aviation and history buffs to make the trip to Oshkosh this year for an unforgettable experience.”

Among the collections represented at Oshkosh will be the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome of Rhinebeck, New York, and Golden Age Air Museum in Bethel, Pennsylvania. Other collections are expected to add aircraft to the displays, which will be highlighted daily in the vintage aircraft area on the AirVenture grounds.

A special addition is a rare 1909 Curtiss Pusher aircraft from the Collings Foundation of Stow, Massachusetts, which has just been completed from a two-year restoration by Century Aviation in East Wenatchee, Washington. Along with the aircraft display, there will be giant-scale radio-controlled aircraft flights, a “living history” area with historical re-enactors, and forums and presentations throughout the week.

“Our goal is to create an event that will allow those at Oshkosh to see more than antique airplanes on the ground,” Larsen said. “We want people to feel and better understand the technology, dangers, and romance of the era that brought us such legendary aviation figures as Eddie Rickenbacker and the Red Baron.”

For anyone that didn't know. Kermit announced this on his page on May 6th.

It seems I will be arriving at Oshkosh in style this year. Check out my Chariot!
I cut a deal with Wayne Coulson to help get the Martin Mars to Oshkosh and plan on being part of the whole adventure from putting it in the water at Sproat Lake through ground school, eight hours of test-flying and training, and a nine-hour hop to Oshkosh for some airshow flying!
And while I will surely continue to make progress posts on Facebook . . . I have a Win-Win opportunity for all my Facebook followers.
Let keep this as simple as possible. smile emoticon
EVERYONE needs to read, own, and/or give away a copy of my "Ostynn the Ostrich and the Fantasy of Flight" book, as it delivers a profound message that defines what I am trying to create with Fantasy of Flight ACT III.
Help me attain my goal to send a Ostynn's message to Washington D.C. this June by clicking here -

and I will deliver the ULTIMATE "KERMIE CAM" of the Martin Mars!
