As someone involved in bit of a recruiting drive for local reenactors, you do have a point.
Reenacting is not an inexpensive hobby. Kinda like old airplanes, and much like inaccurate paint schemes, if it bothers you enough, you can always vote with your wallet. I would be more than happy to work with a couple of the established vendors to create a uniform and equipment subsidy program to encourage the participation of more age appropriate participants.



* My own billet is age appropriate, I fit in original uniforms, and like the whole of my group actually have interpretive certifications.

I couldn't say offhand, as my collection of reference works on European flora happens to be in storage at the moment.
