Iranian Air Force "Golden Crown" F-86 ...

"The team started in 1958 with 4 F-84Gs and converted to 6 F-86s in 1961. They briefly used F-5As during 1968, but went back to F-86s and operated F-86s until 1971 when they were replaced with F-5As."

Some time ago I was co-authoring a book on Sabre aerobatic teams and Golden Crown was one of 60-odd we had listed. Little-known fact that Iranian F-86Fs were overhauled by IAI in Israel.

Not to be confused with the ex-Luftwaffe Sabre 6s which were 'sold' to Iran as a cover to onward sale in Pakistan.
