The crew of Boeing B-17G-40-BO Flying Fortress 42-97083 "Flatbush Floogie" of the 8th Air Force, 45th Combat Bombardment Wing (Heavy), 3rd Bombardment Division, 452nd Bomb Group, 728th Bomb Squadron, are arrested by Luftwaffe personnel from the Jever airdrome near Schillig, Germany on April 11, 1944.

Here's a close up of "Silver Dollars" noseart
Nose art on 42-37781. Following a routine practice mission on 26 December 1943, the right main landing gear would not extend. The Pilot, George Withers Stier, was directed to fly to Little Staughton, Station 127, and make a belly landing there. This was accomplished with no injury to the crew. The aircraft was repaired and returned to service, flying her next mission on 6 March 1944.

Am I seeing things?, looks like the far left rear 17 "Hot Rock" marked with a G has the SU codes backwards?? Mark you have any more from this squadron to see if any are marked like that? Thanks for the interesting post.

The fuselage code doesn't seem to match the "G" on the tail either.

I think you nailed it. Also note how 44-6141 in the background appears to have been marked by someone else (or with a different set of stencils?) - same markings but none matching the others in size or boldness.
