A year or so ago we discussed a F-89 in South Dakota, just north of I-80.
I'm sure its still there.
I don't believe it had wings (at least not attached) so that could be a source for parts.

I must have been hanging upside down..I could have sworn it said F-89H.
Anyway, it's good to remind everyone that the F-89 is still out there.
Also, good to learn the wings are there.

Nathan, were you and the other Nathan (Decker) ever able to get together and discuss the T-33 that was removed from the park in Indiana? It was ratty but did have wings.

The T-33 is still sitting in Huntington Indiana awaiting disposition by NMUSAF as is the T-33 sitting disassembled in the weeds at Grissom Air Museum. No telling how long it will take for anything to be done with them.

Not to drag this too far off topic, but I did indeed go visit the F-89 in South Dakota last summer. It is much loved by it's owners, and they have great plans of restoring her. She is in great hands. The family that owns it are the nicest folks you will ever meet and love showing it off.

Now, back to saving more of these old gals!

That's the best news I've had all day/week/month!
If I were closer, I'd love to help...rather like a giant Revell kit.

Hopefully they can get a canopy.
The photos show it to be very nice, different than the old shots we had of her.

That's terrific! Steven, would it be OK to pass the photo along to Nathan Decker for 51-11443's listing on his Forgotten Jets site? Credited to you, of course. All he has for that plane is a blurry Google Earth image.

Absolutely Chris, I have a ton of other pics I took of the Scorpion and I do have cockpit shots. PM me your e-mail address and I am happy to share them all with whoever wants to see them. I only loaded the above two pics to photobucket, but there are quite a few more taken in kind of a "walk around" fashion.

I suppose we could/should (?) start a different thread so as to not get too far off topic here, (my apologies Nathan).

No keep going. I love finding this stuff. That F-89 is cool looking and looks to be in great shape. Those rocket tip tanks are RARE!
