No takers??

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nakajima-Ki-43- ... 1986714909

Still no takers on this P-39 that has been around for a bit. Kinda surprised someone hasn't been willing to give it a shot.

not worth it. They are complete new builds. you would only be buying the aircraft history and data plate if they have one.

of course they will be 90% new parts, do you think alloy lasts forever?

why do they re spar mustangs and spitfires that have less than 1000 hours on them? because alloy cracks.

look at a lot of P-39s in the museums, they paint over the melting spar caps, because planes corrode in time

there is a lot more original aircraft there than a lot of mustangs flying these days.

i guess my PA-28 was not authentic either because over the years i had it i had to replace the rudder, a flap, a wheel, the rear spars, fuel tanks etc

Spitfire P9374

NOT AUTHENTIC

Spitfire faithfully restored after 40-years buried French beach sells world record 3.1million $4.4M USD for such an unauthentic piece of junk. i love the armchair restorers here

just for you, 100% authentic alclad Platinum fighters P-51C 100% brand new 4 foot section but owner will throw in a set of wheels he bought on ebay for the asking price of $700k

i think you should tour some resto shops like precision or pioneer...you know pretty much every single restored P-40 is 100% new right? the plane that you recover is a pattern nothing more, virtually nil metal is used from the original.

in comparison my P-39 has tons of original parts for less than 1/10th the price

Double standard much :?

not at all..precious metal was a mustang that was changed into something thats hardly a mustang, big difference.

it is a destroyed P-51 fuselage, rolls royce griffon engine, modified F-86 tail and lear jet wings....how is that even relevant?

A website? Photos? Price? Location? ... Did I miss a thread on your P-39 project somewhere? I'd love to see what you have.

Coastie: There are probably less than 30 shops in world and less than 2 dozen individuals that have the capability to build those projects up. Of all those, probably less than a dozen would be willing to take them on. Of those, I would bet that most are booked out so far in the future that they wouldn't commit on taking them on. The guys that I used to work with, had enough projects stacked inline that it took a couple of years to even get one into the shop. The Ki-43 would be interesting to do, but I'm booked solid for the next several years with my own stuff. I could probably think about it in maybe 2024 or so...

im not rebuilding in a shop, i work with a cad engineer who is also a chief air frame engineer, another air frame engineer and a sheet metal worker, most restorations are not done in these big shops unless your someone like Paul Allen, sure the task looks daunting to begin with but you learn as you go,theres not much more complexity in the air frame than a vans RV.

This is actually kind of a description of Miss Ashley II - a completely different aircraft that did not have a P-51 fuselage (it was a custom/new build fuse). PM as I understand it is an assembly of different P-51 parts, Mustang fuselage, Mustang wings, Mustang tail (P-51H vertical/rudder), etc with a Griffon on the front end. The F-86 tail stuff and Lear wings were on Miss Ashley II and before that Vendetta.
