While checking for the Chanute aircraft on the GSA auction site (nothing yet), I found these:

The tanker is at Lancaster; the other two are at Edwards AFB. Happy bidding!

Looks like they will be headed for the scrapyard

I'm not really into transport aircraft. But I really like the Boxcars. I hope they get saved.

The silver Dollar Nineteen and the 123 are at Edwards AFB, where the B-52D at the Flight Test Museum is currently being scrapped.

Found the 119 and the 123 on google maps, parked a good ways south from the ramp storage area for the other museum aircraft.

Here are the other stored museum aircraft. Lots of good google map spotting at Edwards.

Would anyone here be willing to hazard a guess for what they'll go for, at salvage/scrap prices? I assume engines, panels, some other bits get removed then it's all weight and the price of aluminium per pound.

I would be most interested in hearing an educated guess or two for the C-119s

Looks like the ex H&P 119 used to belong to this collection...

A little more back story on the plane.

I remember back in the early 60's the Texas National Guard flew the C-119's all the time...

I'm seriously considering bidding on the 123. I live near by and have a friend with some land in the high desert. Only about 30 miles from Edwards. I figure I could pull the wings off and tow it down the road. I'm going to try and get some detailed pictures on Wednesday. I'm a USAF reservist so I can get on to base and look at them without any issues.

Good luck to you- hope you can save her. But be advised that part of base is not a drive around place in your POV. The "it's cool I'm a reservist" line may not get you too far with the MP's- they are not known for thier sense of humor- or curious WIXers....
