I'm wondering if we might get a big gathering of P-40s this year. Collings Foundation's P-40B is nearing completion after repairs, plus Chris Kirchner's new P-40N restoration could maybe debut. Add in the usual possibilities from Texas Flying Legends, Fagen Fighters and CAF and we could have a pretty big turnout of P-40s.

Would be great to see a lot of P-40's at Oshkosh with this being the 75th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor. I know there is a gathering planned in Atlanta for the fall.

Speaking of P-40's, I'd be very surprised if John Fallis didn't arrive with his beautiful P-40N, as he's attended the last 6 or 7 summers.




The Frascas are also regular participants with either their P-40E, FM-2,or both.

No, that's NOT News or anything dramatic when it comes to Oshkosh.....

Now if the B-29 "Doc" or the Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation's C-97 were confirmed for Oshkosh, THAT would be News!

When you consider it costs around $10,000 an hour to operate that particular vintage aircraft...THAT is news. The staff, the logistics, the hidden costs, and the wear and tear on the aircraft are monumental. There is no need to minimize the effort the CAF is taking on in making any show, let alone Oshkosh, which is probably their largest audience and recruitment platform.

Maybe news to some, but I will stick by my opinion - not news to me or to many.

Not minimizing the cost or effort to fly Fifi to Oshkosh. Just that it has been to Oshkosh MANY times and has been all over the country many times in past years. I am looking forward to seeing it again at TICO in Florida in March. It will be good to have Fifi at Oshkosh again, and hopefully this year will feature a truly unique and newsworthy event by seeing it joined by Doc to feature two flying B-29's at an air show for the first time in a very LONG time.

With 2016 being the Centennial for Boeing, I wonder if there is any possibility of having a gathering of Boeing aircraft at Oshkosh to commemorate this significant event?

Would be great to see TWO B-29's (Fifi and Doc) and several B-17's there and possibly a B-52H from the Air Force. I can just imagine a Boeing Bomber "Heritage Flight" with 2 B-29's, a B-17 and a B-52!

And if by some "chance" the BAHF's C-97G had flown and was ready for Oshkosh by late July, it would be fantastic to see it join the party too.

We can dream......

I wouldn't put too much hope into a B-52, maybe as a flyby only but not on the ground.

While the chances are slim, it did happen last year (for the first time ever)! One can only hope for a bi Boeing family reunion.

Actually I don't care if they have a B-52 "on the ground" at Oshkosh. If I make it there this year again (last time was in 2010), it will be to see flying airplanes not to see airplanes parked on the ground. I have seen plenty of B-52's on the ground at many air shows and museums over the years. And of course with Oshkosh you have to be there early and often during the week to catch some of the interesting types in the air.

The USAF's F-16 Demo team (+Heritage Flight) will be attending. Oshkosh is not on the F-22 Demo schedule, still waiting for the release of the F-35 Demo schedule.

The F-35 will likely not be coming to Oshkosh in 2016.
