since there are so many B-17's and the B-17 Registry is currenly undergoing overhaul, I figure that this a/c desrves its own section.

Unfortunatly, there is no plan to make her airworthy again before a long time: the plane is in good shape after being very well maintened during all his flying time, but is now in need of a complete and deep restoration/overhauld and the main factor is ... money.
From information available on various French forum, the intention is to keep her in live condition before making a complete overhauled and having her flying again for the 100 aniversary of the end of WWII (so in long time)

So, why isn't she in her original combat colors instead of this horrible scheme? Sorry, I don't like the current scheme.

Might be her paint scheme from "Red Tails", the last film she was in.

I think it looks amazing because of faded/worn finish like you would have really seen during the war. Perfection during restoration is cool, just not "real" looking to me. Just my opinion.

Are there any images of her in WWII and was she natural metal?

Well, not only is she a combat vet, but she is also a G model and should revert back to that configuration.

Along with Sally B, with its wrong turrets and F nose, it just looks bad. But I guess our European cousins don't really care about much accuracy in their birds.

Or do they? :axe:

Hi,
Would be great when she can wear her colours from ww2, that would be the best option in my opinion.
I do not know if this is going to be looked at her restoration in the future???, also with the nose, and some details.

@ Ken, i only know this picture from herr.Photo from Flypast.

Five B-17's we're used for the filming of Memphis Belle.

Sally B
Pink Lady
Memphis Belle
Boeing Bee
F-BEEA "Baby Ruth" -Crashed and destroyed during filming.

Out of the five one (Boeing Bee) was the only actual F model. The other G models we're backdated to resemble F models, and from my view, I think they did a pretty good job. I must admit, I like the scheme on Pink Lady but understand the desire to see her back in accurate combat configuration and scheme. But I still, for the life of me, cant get over Sally B's current scheme. The Memphis Belle scheme does not look good on a G model. That B-17 should be repainted to something else. Funds providing of course.

BUT maybe the Pink Lady crew hasn't reconfigured her to a G is because of the potential for filming. I think an F model B-17 would be more lucrative than a G.

It all comes down to money. if it keeps paying the bills, I completely understand it. You don't like it? You pay for it :)
