I wonder what the "retractable posts" are referred to in the F-82 photo? If those are rockets on the centerline positions, they seem awfully close to the prop arcs!

Curious lower wing leading edge "adapters" for the 5-inch HVAR's on the British Hellcat and Wildcat (Martlet?) Don't know that I have ever seen that kind of installation before....

Those may be RP-3 (60lb) rockets, or FFAR's - small diameter body with large head
