Collection of Air Museum Photo Galleries

Sat Dec 12, 2015 4:17 pm

Hello All,

While traveling for work , lo these many years, my lovely wife and I have visited some 123 (EDIT as of 11/17 the total is now 152) air museums & aircraft monument displays across the USA and Canada (with a few locations in China to boot.) This year we’ve finally had time to process and post our photos to a page on our SmugMug site and invite you to take a look and enjoy. Rather than make a post for each gallery, I am posting a link to the Air Museums section of our site, from which one can navigate to the galleries of interest to them.

The gallery page continues to be under construction and we plan on completing (can one even actually USE that word regarding an obsessive hobby? LOL!!) the site once we have the following museums processed and posted:

Silent Wings Museum in Lubbock, TX
Warhawk Museum in Nampa, ID
US Army Aviation Museum at Fort Rucker, AL
Heritage Flight Foundation in Everett, WA
Flying Heritage Collection in Everett, WA - at the moment the gallery only has photos from a 2006 trip to the FHC when it was located in Arlington, WA and a gallery of the tanks and artillery pieces in the current FHC collection that is posted over on the AFV section of the site.

I’ll post again when we’ve added the above galleries.

In the meantime enjoy the Holiday Cornucopia here:

Also we’ve posted galleries of photos from a number of Airshows in the corresponding section of the site:

Wow, that's quite an endeavor to post all that, and as far as I'm concerned, quite a valuable service. Thank you, sir (and Mrs. Vagabond)! :drink3:

I don't think I can say enough superlatives to express how well you have done with this. I am simply amazed, and thank you so much for sharing it here with us!

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words!! We are glad that you're enjoying the photos.

I've learned a lot from the folks here and am pleased to be able to contribute something to the community. I am very thankful for having had the tremendous good fortune to choose a career that has allowed us to travel so much and indulge my interest in military history at the same time. We have had an astounding number of amazing experiences, many of which have come about as a result of showing up, being interested, respectful and willing to listen and learn.

Cheers,
VB

Thanks for posting. The Beijing University was very interesting. I think that is a rarely photographed Mig 19 fuselage.

Fantastic! I just have to set aside a few hours to view them. A good problem to have. :drink3:

Hi All,

We’ve added a gallery of photos taken in 2010 of B-25C “Skunkie” in Colombia, SC. Within a 6 month period, we had 3 opportunities to see and photograph her, both inside and outside of the Curtiss-Wright hangar.

Wow very cool post.
The Ft. McCoy heritage park as well as the field artillery museum at Ft Sill. Ft' McCoy's park is interesting because everything is painted in OD, no unit markings or slapped together camo. Ft. Sill cause i was there for a while. Former 13B40 FA GYSGT, CFB (chief of firing btry) I was on M109A1 and A3 155MM SP howitzers. WIARNG. Its nice to see such a well put together collection of photos. I would love to visit these places. Remember Artillery lends dignity to what otherwise would be a vulgar brawl
