It seems like absolutely nothing has been said in public about the Myanmar Spitfire explorations for literal years, I hope this story can be fully reported and appreciated (or written off!).

Yes all seems to have gone very quiet on that front. It is a taboo subject on the Flypast historic forum as well. Is David Cundell (prob spelling wrong) still looking?

I think you can safely forget about any crated Spitfires in Burma lol. If it never happened it's not gonna happen.

Would that be be advice from extensive prime research...or just stuff you have picked up from the media?

Still a long way to run on Burma Spitfires.

So the search is still ongoing then Peter?, and reading between the lines you seem optimistic about it?.You are obviously a lot more in the know with it than us and have been following it of late. Personally I hope something turns up, but if it doesn't so be it. I cannot see the point of all the sniping that these endeavours seem to attract.

With an open mind and totally independent observation/research I can see clearly - MEANS, MOTIVE & OPPORTUNITY.

...unfortunately, I can see the point of some of the orchestrated sniping. :wink:

Certainly nothing wrong with having an open mind and hoping for the best, heck I believed the guy who said he dug up a P-43 when the story was posted here. Knowing that in the history of warbirding (let's put a start date on that of 1960 just for arguments sake) that not a single crated ww2 aircraft buried by the military has ever been recovered anywhere in the world by anyone I remain unconvinced. The way some of the people who expressed doubt on the facebook were treated doesn't impress me either. No wonder it's a banned subject on Flypast. :wink:
