Yah! Yah! I know, that's your wonderful WIX auto-spell checker hard at work. Not the first time it's worked wonders for me.
But luckily your a smart dude so I'm sure you were able to figure out where I was going ... as it seems you did :supz:

It's a bad thread to commit a typo on if there ever was one - y'all fly safe and be careful out there now!

Something similar to pronouncing USSR aircraft abbreviations as words, I read somewhere that the same rule applies for German aircraft, i.e., Me 109 is May 109, He 111 is Hay 111, Ju 52 is U 52. How you pronounce Bf 109 and Bv 222 I dunno, Buf 109 and Buv 222 maybe? Speaking of German stuff, I generally get bugged when I see something about the CAF's He 111 or Me 109, since they are neither... :)

I'm surprised, (well perhaps not, that a politely worded reminder would turn so contentious.
We have a many members seemingly proud to display their unwillingness (or flaunting their ignorance) to use the correct style.
Of course in the scope of world affairs it's not a big deal, but one would hope that a serious student of aviation would at least try to be correct.
Maybe some are just rebelling from what they see as a arbitrary rule and it's their way of standing up the "The Man" (i.e. their boss, wife, etc). :)

Then we have another member who suggests that anyone requesting proper use must have a mental illness (which OCD is classified as) then defends his actions and says he not a troll. With that attitude, I'm sure he was told his parents that his high school English teacher was a psychopath for suggesting all that "grammar and punctuation stuff".

Way to go guys. You've made me proud.

Proud to display their unwillingness and flaunting their ignorance? not sure where your getting all that from, but your entitled to think what you want. I haven't seen much of it.

No it's not a big deal and many, if not all of us who give a rats behind, try to be correct when possible whether it's a big deal or not ... and! point out that there are many examples that are incorrect as you have seen in a few photos posted.
JohnB wrote:Maybe some are just rebelling from what they see as a arbitrary rule and it's their way of standing up the "The Man" (i.e. their boss, wife, etc). :)

Couldn't tell ya ... but perhaps your right, although seems a waste of energy.

??? it's somehow our job to make you proud? ...

I think perhaps you hit a nerve with a few members who probably feel they don't need the "English teacher" lecture from you. I'm just saying.
I will tell you this though, it's tricky to complain about anything on an internet forum and come out satisfied simply because it's far too easy for others to chastise you whether your right or wrong. (TIGHAR comes to mind) best try to use the "thick skin" rules and "walk away" ... which is something I'm still trying to do.

I'll leave you with this final thought from me, whether you care or not ... and that's, You've been absolutely right!

I HATE when people don't spell out "Christmas" ... lol

The one that bothers me the most is when people use the word "plane"
Growing up with pre WW2 and WW2 pilots , I was always (old school)taught that it is an
Aeroplane, airplane or aircraft and Jet or Jet Aircraft
The olds guys insisted that a Jet is not an Airplane
A plane is a wood working tool !

When I was a know-it-all fourteen year old, I argued with my grandmother over whether to call it an airplane or a ship. I was later embarrassed to discover how many pilots wrote about their "ships".

Normally I would not even bother to respond but the above statement is an outright lie. You have even gone so far as to italicize the portion of your statement that is false. At this point I would have to retract my OCD comment and ask instead whether you might have reading comprehension problems.

Wow, just wow. It takes a real act of over-dramatization to take anything said by me and get from there to here.

I will not be responding any further here. I don't come here for conflict and it was never my intention to ruffle feathers, particularly in regards to something that I see as such a non-issue. Regarding my being a troll, I've been around WIX for a long time and will let my history here serve as my defense.
