As Johnny Carson used to say" I did not know that" that's cool, my dad used to sell Buick's

It was an awesome weekend of racing. T6 Gold race was awesome to watch. A guy went from last to 2nd place. The Unlimiteds were also good. The silver race had a Yak run from last to 3rd place (didn't start on Sat due to a broken mic wire). Grim Reaper ran away from the field for the win. The Unlimited Gold race was the best one in ages. Strega started in 1st, with Voodoo 2nd, and Rare Bear in 3rd. At the start the mustangs went for it, and the Bear gave chase. Strega just ran away from the field, nearly lapping everyone up to 3rd place. Voodoo pulled out on a mayday but landed safely. The Bear was 2nd place, Dreadnought 3rd, Sawbones 4th, followed by Argonaut and 924. (All 3 of the Sanders planes in the Gold.)

Though I'm a big fan of Steveo and the Purple Princess, I sure would like to see someone blow the dust off of Dago Red and put her back in the game. Where is she these days?

Dago is in pieces in a hangar in Fresno. Its owned by one of the former team members There are rumors of a revival, perhaps for next year.

Next year should be even better. There is talk of Dago Red, Risky Business, Steadfast, and Miss Merced all returning. Steadfast and Risky are almost guaranteed, Miss Merced has a high likelihood as its owner was racing a T6 this year because he wanted more time on course before going to Miss Merced or Furias (He owns both. Apparently Furias has been taken apart and the crew is itching to get to work on it.) There is also the possibility of Czech Mate coming back as well as Precious Metal if they can find the funds to make it happen. I hope a few of the stock planes will come out and race as well.

I'm already excited about what next year might bring. The races seemed to be the best in years this year. I hope this is the start of a brighter future for the races.

Steadfast? As in, the Yak-11 conversion spotted at a small fly-in in Australia last month? http://www.warbirdz.net.au/forum/showthread.php?t=1751

I do miss Dago, and it would be great to see Czech Mate. I'm not as familiar with the others.

I watched a video of the entire Unlimited Gold race this morning...what a thriller! Strega and Hoot had some serious go-fast juice in their systems, there was no way anyone was catching them! I felt sorry for all the Sea Furies! Sad to see Voodoo and Stevo mayday, but more disappointing from my perspective was the Bear...next year, baby!

I also read that the Vampire...named Vampire...won Jet Gold! Very cool.

Yes, that Steadfast.
They have already announced that they will be attending Reno in 2016. :supz:

Just got home last night - we took a few extra days to drive through northern CA, winding up in Napa. Spent a night in Garberville, as a matter of fact. Here's one for now - it's Rod Lewis and JD in "Russian to get ya". They did a Doolittle flight Friday - Sunday. Sat & Sun it followed the Tora display which was chronologically fitting (as pointed out by the announcers). Need to crop and upload the rest yet:

Thanks. I have only scratched the surface of my shots. Here are a few more.

Hoot blowing the exhaust stacks up on lap 2 on Saturday (I can just make out the damage to the baffle when looking at the original pic.)
