A Charles Babb donated a collection of photos to the San Diego Air and Space Museum.
Here is one of them-

I acquired a crate of catalogs and such from Babb's Florida location a few years back. Very little internal documentation, but a few sales listings and photos of aircraft being offered. One gaylord sized box was all that was saved when the storage unit was cleared out. I was told that it was three roll-off skips worth.

Hi Shrike,

"I acquired a crate of catalogs and such from Babb's Florida location a few years back. Very little internal documentation, but a few sales listings and photos of aircraft being offered."

Interesting. The Babb company was also involved in sales of redundant Canadian Air Force aircraft in the (post WW2) forties. Among those many Harvards (or T-6s / Texans as you would say) which ended up all over the world. Was wondering if any of those documents you have is listing Texans/Harvards.

Looking forward to hear from you.

Regards,

Benno

I don't recall any Cansos or Harvards , but I know there is a sales listing with surplus Stinsons, commercial Anson conversion literature and a Norduyn brochure

Babb was involved in shipping the Ryan STA's and STM's for the Guatemalan Cuerpo de Aeronautica Militar, in 1938.

I don't know if Cansos were exported, but Catalinas were.

Also, IIRC Babb was involved in the exporting of the F-51Ds and B-25 for the Uruguayan Air Force.

Saludos,

Tulio

The A-26 listed on that sheet is a survivor - NL67943/44-34778:

Wonder what happened to the 17 non-amphibious PBYs?

Got into the boxes finally.

First relevant find so far is a DHC pamphlet on Catalina conversions

Mr Babb also bought up a large quantity of Fleet Finch 16b aircraft from the RCAF
He sold most off to Mexico and S. America
I have some of his advertisements somewhere in my collection

Can we get the grammar done correctly, at least in the subject line:

Any photos out there?

Nope.

That's the Kernel's trademark; the mangled grammar, the mispelled words, but if you overlook these issues, there is a wealth of knowledge being shared. He is a cool guy, like most of us sometimes difficult to understand or to deal with, but in my experience, a good guy.

I have felt honored to call him a friend, for many a year now.

Saludos,

Tulio
