There is a pair of stock Yak-11's being just about ready to fly having been recently restored, possibly in Eastern Europe. Does anyone know if these two, or either of them has flown yet?

There are 2 stock Yak 11's have been restored in Switzerland. The first one is ready to fly and is for sale. They were listed on Clasic Wings. One was recently damaged in a hanger fire, but is fixable.

Don Talley bought and restored a Yak-11 in East Texas back in the late 1980s. The last I saw the plane was at the Breckenridge Air Show around 1992. I had heard a rumor that the plane had been damaged, but I lost touch with Mr. Talley and never heard of or saw the Yak-11 again.

Every time I see a new Yak-11 restoration reported, I wonder if it may be Don Talley's old plane resurfacing. Does anyone know what might have happened to this plane?

According to Goodall's list, Mr Talley's Yak 11 has been rebuilt as an Yak 9 and is now overseas.

I remember seeing Talley's Yak at Breckenridge in 1991. Cool to see, although calling it a Yak-9 is somewhat weird considering that the Yak-9 variants were V-12 powered...

Anyway, I asked about it on the Flypast forum some years back, and this is the reply (post #21 and #22):

I think Talley's Yak was the only one I have ever seen Stateside flying with the original Russian radial powerplant. I assume if it is being called a Yak-9 now that it has been re-engined with an Allison. No?

If Goodall infos are correct - the Yak became a Yak-3U after being rebuild by JM Garric.
JM Delimbeuf sold the project early this year and rebuild is now underway with Bruno Ducreux at Aéro Restauration Service:

Hi Everyone,

Enjoyed seeing the Don Talley YAK-11 at BKD posted. That was a picture I took at the Breckenridge 1992 show from
our Navion/L-17A. If I remember right Lynn Allen or Dick Phillips was aboard also. Later we put together a formation
with the YAK-11 and Bill Laws in his YAK-18. If anyone remember's the YAK-18's registration I'd like to know.

Stephen

Thanks for the info on F-AZOS Ben!

Looks like you took good care of young, promising Dick Phillips there Stephen. Here is a photo (not that good) of the very same Mr. Phillips climbing aboard the Navion one year earlier, in 1991.

And here is Don Talley's Yak-11 in 1991. Gotta admit that it looks so much better in the white colors.
