After seeing the fantastic restoration job you did on your T-41, I think it's almost worth having a crack at!
Stupid question: Are there any civilian Cessna types that have interchangeable parts with the T-41? I'm guessing C172/182/Hawk XP, perhaps?

After the road you have just been down, I can only imagine how you must have felt seeing this sad remnant.
The only useable part of this would be the data plate and maybe the shadow

How does one go about reusing an airplane's shadow? I mean, you could *never* match its original color ...

Good Morning,
A lot of parts on the T-41B are interchangeable with other Cessna aircraft and have the same part #s. The seats are the same as a Cessna O-2 as are the engines, the main gear is from a C-182. The interior panels are the same material as the L-19, O-2 and will fit with minor alterations.
The aircraft is built on the Cessna 175 type certificate so there are some differences in the fuselage and wings but a lot of Cessna 172 series aircraft parts are the same. The T-41B is 28 volt like the L-19 and O-2.
The T-41A is a different aircraft (built on C-172 type certificate) and is a stock 172 with theO-300 145 hp engine.

Florala, Al., the aircraft belongs to a Banner Tow operation out of Navarre, Fl. It went down years ago after an engine failure, landed on soft ground. I was told some damage happened during recovery and during the removal of engine and instruments.
The wings don't look that bad and it has good cowlings.

Ah yes, the C175! Should have thought of that one too. Thanks for the info. I always thought ALL the T-41 variants were just stock 172s in military paint. How wrong I was!
Close relatives, yes, identical... Not by a long shot!

The aircraft is owned by a Banner Tow Company, he is a good customer of the paint/maintenance shop and the plane is stored there. I don't have a contact phone number for them but here is the registration which is still current. Good luck,
The Cessna serial # is 15235 and the Army serial # is 15234, the final Cessna serial # for the T-41B run was 255. The first T-41B had Army serial # 000

The damaged T-41B N2427 is still registered with the FAA. It sounds like a rebuild was planned (and perhaps still is).
