Early P-40 Nose Guns

Mon Jun 29, 2015 7:45 pm

On the early P-40's, were the spent shells and links from the nose guns ejected overboard or caught in some type of container to be removed later? Now that I think about it, how was it done on other types that had guns fitted in the nose? I think the P-38 had ejection chutes for the 50's. Not sure about the 20MM.

There are exit chutes coming off the 50s that twist 90 degrees downward and pass through the wing on either side of the match angle between spar 1 and spar 2 IIRC continuing right out through the belly fairing.
