I am looking for some help, maybe someone here can provide some assistance... I am trying to locate Claude Balfour, the daughter of Maxwell Balfour, the former President of the Spartan Aircraft Company. Claude was born in 1922 in France, and ultimately moved to Tulsa with her father when he started work at Spartan. In the 1940 census, she was shown living in Tulsa with her dad. By 1941, she was engaged to John T. Swais, a cadet at Spartan. They were married, and he went to England with the 8th Air Force. While on a mission to Germany in 1943 as the pilot of a B-17, he and his entire crew were lost over the North Sea. Claude Swais at some point during the war enlisted in the WACS and served there throughout the end of the war. I have searched as best I could, and have not found any information about her ultimate fate. I would assume that since she was so young when her husband died, she remarried and had a family. I have been unable to find anything of significance under "Claude Balfour", "Claude Balfour Swais," "Claude Swais" etc. My guess is that she remarried and subsequent digital profiles of her would have her new married name. I just don't know what that name would be. It is theoretically possible that she is still alive, as she would be about 93. I have an interest in the history of Spartan, and her father was a huge part of that history for a long time. Any help folks here could give me would be appreciated!
Thanks,
kevin

It appears that she married someone named PINNICK (between 1944 and 1948) as there is an article in the New York Times Society pages of 13FEB48 noting "C.B.PINNICK Bride; married Edward Kenneth Hadden (b. OCT 1915)...Claude Balfour, daughter of Captain Maxwell Balfour..."

They lived in Woodland Hills CA, and CLAUDE BALFOUR HADDEN deceased 11MAR2009 in Las Vegas, NV (Henderson. Clark Co. NV)

Her birth date was 1SEP21.

Her father Maxwell W Balfour deceased in August 1977.

Perhaps I was unclear.....Her whole legal name would be:

Claude Balfour Swais Pinnick Hadden.

She and her husband Edward Kenneth Hadden do not appear to have had any children.
