4 Corsairs being restored in Florida?

Sat Jun 06, 2015 11:53 am

Wikipedia lists four FG-1Ds under restoration to airworthy at O'Farrell Aviation in Florida.
92463
92490
92618
92643

Assuming the above is correct, anyone know if any of the four are near completion?

Hi! Out of those 4 composite fuselages perhaps 1..may see the restoration arena. Some of 'em were x FAS FG-1D fuselages found in a recycle yard S. of Ilopango c. 2006-2007. We are trying to get some pics of the stash. Hang tight.

Paul:

Good day!

That's 'em with a few variations. We knew that some of the FAS boneyard FG-1Ds were sold as scrap metal to a local recycle shop, c. 1980s but what we did not know is that the owner saved a few fuselage parts. We are trying to obtain some pics of the stash with a poc in S. Fla if not I'll get 'em on my way to K. West/Cuba this summer!! -)

Paul - good research. Sounds like there may be an assembly line of 6 FG-1Ds going on down in Florida, assuming the additional two you found are also being restored to airworthy.

Z - hope you get those boneyard pics. Would be quite interesting to see.

I'm particularly interested in the remains of (Serial No. 92463) considering it's only 3 numbers away from our Corsair (92460). I finally was able to get up close to the CAF's Corsair 92468 at Reading this past weekend. I thought the CAF's example was the closest to ours!

Warbird KId:

Hi! Excellent info & data on the FAS FG-1ds. Are you able to take some close-ups of the id plates installed on the wings of your Buno 92460?? Tks in advance.
