Not all of them. They were built both ways.
Is this the one at the 167th in Martinsburg? They just restored that one not that long ago...come to think of it, I guess I haven't seen it in at least six or seven years....

No this is located at Front Royal at a small airport
Ah, thanks. I THOUGHT the 167th airplane was in better shape (or better maintained) than that.

Here's a story about "Howdy Doody"...
http://www.167aw.ang.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123115357Wasn't 2058 displayed at Grissom AFB at one time?

Don did a great job of rescuing 'Howdy Doody' from a local scrapyard and personally restoring her (he even had a new canopy plexiglass made). This is how she looked 'before':

And this is '058 being retrieved from Grissom: it too looks better nowadays!

Wow, what a blast from the past. I knew Al Ogden. He and my Dad flew together, and my folks and the Ogdens (her name was Cecile, a real southern Belle) often played bridge together. I never ever heard him referred to as "Howdy Doody" but hearing that now, I can sure see the resemblance. They were very, VERY nice people. I think he eventually flew for one of the big airlines--maybe Eastern.
