This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Saw this on Facebook: "Sunday, May 25, Hawker Hurricane Mk IIa P3351 overun while landing in Dijon Darois, on its way back from Pentecost weekend air show in La Ferté Allais."
Link to a news article, in French..

If you open it with Google you can translate it.
Spectacular accident Sunday afternoon on the airfield of Darois. An airplane collection, dating from World War II, crashed into the end of the runway after landing, according to our information, in circumstances still unknown. The accident has been fortunately no injuries.
The accident aircraft would be the Hawker Hurricane P3351 which has already had a checkered history before being repatriated to France in 2013 as evidenced by its story told on the airfield site.

Thats the most important thing. Bent birds can be fixed, pilots can't be (though I know some that should be neutered

LMAO at that, yea I know some too!
Once again, main thing is no injuries!
Hope the aircraft is returned to service soon.

Has it had a replacement prop fitted recently Xavier? It had a Rotol when it visited Duxford last summer, I must admit I didn't notice what prop it had at La Ferté this weekend.

Just seen some more post-accident shots on the web, definitely a wooden Rotol prop, you can clearly see where it has splintered. Hopefully that might have reduced the shock-loading to the engine.

My bad – it had a wooden prop.

Mike, as a side note, Rotol props were available both with metal or wooden prop at the time !

Prop strike = bulk strip. So no matter what it is heading back to the shop.

THIS WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO CONVERT IT TO A TWO SEATER! WAS LOOKING AT THE PICS OF PRINCE HARRY FLYING IN A TWO SEATER IN FORMATION WITH ANOTHER TWO SEATER AND I THOUGHT 'BOY HAVE THE HURRICANE OWNERS MISSED OUT ON SO MUCH MORE REVENUE AND TRAINING BY NOT HAVING AT LEAST ONE TWO SEATER IN THE WORLD.
