Orvis:

There is property for sale near Seguin, including a big house, a couple of hangars, a dirt strip, and all for less than 300k IIRC....

Seguin is close to San Antonio.

Cool. I'll look it up.

Do you know anything about Rusty Allen Airport in Lago Vista, or Lago Vista in general?? This is an add I saw for there.

Thanks Tulio,

Orvis,

I am not familiar with that Lake.

If you go to Barnstormers, you will find information regarding that airfield in Seguin (I believe it is called Love Field).

There is a publication that you may want to obtain, it is called "Texas Ranch land" and it has lots of good acreage, some of them with airstrips on them, not as expensive as land or housing are elsewhere in the USA.

Saludos,

Don't drive to Thunder Over Michigan then. The roads departments in Detroit like to send you on some interesting detours.

Our concerns weren't people intent on stealing your camera, but big fury animals looking at you as a meal. Remember, to a bear....pepper spray is seasoning!

Hi Orvis,

I PM'd you on the previous.

I understand your thoughts clearly on the cost of trying to own a home in this area, as I'm a renter myself. Waited too long to buy, and once the prices took off, they never slowed down or stopped. Three bedroom houses down the street fom me are now selling in the $1 million + range.

As far as going out for some target shooting, my buddies and I do that all the time. Instead of going to the range, quite often we go to the hills and BLM land to do our target shooting.

Detroit's not *that* bad. I can list off at least half a dozen other US cities where I wouldn't want set foot outside of a vehicle without having an unconcealed weapon in my hand. To quote 'The Princess Bride': "I'm not saying I want to build a summer home there......" It's no longer the Detroit of 20 years ago, there's at least some parts that are worth visiting.

The major highways in Detroit are all clear now. The push to get everything presentable for the superbowl made things pretty hectic. As for Thunder, YIP is 30+ minutes from Detroit. In fact, Willow Run sits *exactly* on the county line, as far from Detroit as you can be while still being in the same county.

True story: Henry Ford had nothing but disdain for Wayne county (Detroit) politicians. When it came time to build the bomber plant and airfield, Ford made sure all of the Liberators rolled off the line in Washtenaw county, counting towards their production numbers. Hence the 90 degree turn at the end of the production line.

Well I am getting this mounted on my Focus for personal defense.

Don't forget we have many different ethnic back grounds here in Detroit, many of them have the same way of expressing joy its called...gun clapping. I shoots a bullet into duh air where it comes down I's just don'ts care. That how one of my old coworks got it in the leg while leaving Jeep Truck Engineering. Walking across the street miday no sound of a shot and a 00 buck pellet got him. It is against company policy (I left) but everyone I knew carried something( personally I like 45's.. yes legally) Highland Park even worse. Although both areas are colorful to drive through. Drugs, hookers and very good BBQ at the corner vacant lot/oildrum BBQ pit. Yes we stopped, yes it was great, and yes it was Daylight. (slightly crazy, not stupid) Now gun clapping extends from Dearborn to Sterling Heights. I'll call my friend in Southfield and if its a holiday or Saturday night I hear "fireworks" in the background. South of Grosse point..Gun clapping. In the outer areas we have our "hillcritters" at least those that I know shoot at a target (of some sorts)

Back on topic yes, but only in places that are questionable or remote (not the top of the food chain)
