I have been researching the Typhoon for the last 15 years, part of which is to catalogue all surviving parts throughout the world. Part way through this I picked up some parts to build a cockpit section as a teaching aid however; as I am constantly being told I am now mad enough to attempt a complete Typhoon (there are enough parts around!!!!) based around the largest surviving identified combat veteran RB396.

I have finally completed a first version of a web site for the project (Project RB396) and I hope people are interested enough in the type to take a look (www.hawkertyphoon.com)....also hope it doesn't break any rules here.

Of course any help with information, parts, knowledge would always be appreciated....feedback as well :)

Dave

The Typhoon is a beautiful aircraft. I wish you all the best in your quest for a flying example.

Awesome news, wish you the best of luck. Not sure if there is much i can help from here, but in the Central Texas area, there are 2 Tempest Restorations underway, One in Houston, and Nelson Ezell's in Breckenridge. Both are driving distance if you reach a point where any pictures of parts or similar might help ?
Pm for contact info
Simon

Dave, I most certainly have to tip my hat to you, for embarking on this most impressive project, to double the planets population of Typhoons!
Really cool 8)
I really like, that the former custodians of RB396, chose to pass her on to you. The greater good, of the possibility of a second complete machine was too good to pass up on. Kudos to them.
Please keep us posted Dave. This is a wonderful project.
Thanks for posting.
