I need help finding a picture of B-17 42-97097. I know it was from the 366th Bomb Sqdn. 305th Bomb Group and was shot down over Nancy on April 27th 1944. My uncle through marriage his father was a waist gunner, was wounded, and taken as a POW. Was told this was not his original crew due to being sick, and was also told this was not a "green" crew.
Anyone has any info or a picture would be greatly appreciated.

It says 305th Bomb Group but it could be 306th

The 366th Bomb Squadron was indeed one of the four squadrons making up the 305th Bomb Group at Chelveston.
Not sure where the 306BG at Thurleigh comes into it though.
Drop Luke a line via
contact@305thbombgroup.com, although there's currently on image of '097 online they may have one in their files.

Dear Red Two,
Have you been able to find a picture of 42-97097 ?
I've a copy of the MACR on my computer. The waist gunners were Sgt Donnie Parker (POW) and Sgt Joseph Casatelli (MIA). A/C lost on 18 APR 1944.
Phil
