I have been in touch with Scott and have sent him some sample of embroidered WIX hats. He has given me the go ahead and make the offering. Here's one sample and in short time, I will be added a few more to give an idea of what we anticipate offering.

For each sale, we will be donating a portion back to Scott for all his efforts and costs in keeping the website up and running.

Details as to costs, how we will handle ordering, etc. will be cleary outlined here.

Input is welcomed.

Jerry

The 4th one with the F-4 on Front and WIX on back is a sample. I have some 50 warbird designs and can put any on the front with the WIX on back as shown.

Will include that in the info when ready to go.

Let me know when you start taking orders, my order will be for 2 hats. Of course each one will have a different aircraft on it.

Can't miss with Camo (IMHO). Also, are you staying away from the WIX logo (top left in the window) for copyright reasons?

Size is an issue for those cursed with large mellons. "one size fits all' is a joke as many caps are really sized for very small heads or much larger ones. At either end of the size spectrum, you either have a cap that's bunching up and still looks like it's trying to eat your noggin, one a large head wearing a yamika (sp?)
The actually make hats that are sized either in the smaller or larger range.
Personally, I never buy 'one size' caps unseen and untried on. I've put way too much money into caps I can't wear in the past.
And yeah, velcro sucks for the backs. Sorry.

First and foremost, this was done with the approval of Scott to help him with his finances. I had hoped for constructive questions as opposed to criticism.

to warbirnerd. ... I have no problem with your not wanting velcro but you never asked for an alternative. Buckle? Snapback? No opening Stretch?

to garbs ... regarding the logo, I can't answer that in that what we digitized for embridery was the logo that was sent to us by Scott.

P51 ... there are hats other than one size fits all. It varies with the hat type, material, etc. Small, Medium and Large base on hat sizes. As far as velcro "sucks", hereto, why not question what is available?

Once again, the samples shown were done so to show the different embroidery and not the hat's color and or style.

A lot of us enjoy this site and some offer great help and other benefit by it. I remember seeing WIX members getting together at Oskosh, etc. and I thought it might be something to think about.

Jerry;

Thanks for taking this on and I wasn't trying to suggest you were doing anything wrong. Got to have a thick skin to try to please everyone on this forum, though  I have often wondered if I'm standing next to another Wixer on the flight line at OSH - some kind of insignia would come in handy.

I was just wondering about the logo since I kind of like the one they use on the "masthead" here and I thought it would be easily recognizable from a distance. Up to you and Scott, obviously.

Regarding the camo, I was thinking desert tan or maybe that "digital" gray pixel pattern the Navy has used. Logos would probably get lost in the standard "Realtree" green unless they were in blaze orange.

Good luck finding consensus!

I really like the design so sure would be up for getting a hat. I prefer the tan hats (cooler to wear) and the buckle-style back strap, although I have several hats with Velcro backs and have no complaints about them, either.

Thanks for working on these for all of us, Misterg97; you are one of the good ones!

I prefer the snapback. Looking forward to seeing what you can come up with.

Love the idea of the hats! I don't like to wear hats, but I would probably buy one just because some of the proceeds will help support this site. Preferences: 1) Tan (nice and cool during those SoCal summers), 2) Adjustable closure for those of us with small, or big, heads. No preference on closure type, 3) Ability to select type of aircraft (P-38's rule!). Possibly an option for something other than a plane (e.g. Sherman Tank).

Awesome job! :drink3:
