Seems a bit odd that they plan to fly the 262 but have deemed the 190D to be too rare to risk. How awesome would it be to see the two of them in the air together?!!!
Yes! And with their ME-109 E ! & their FW 190 A-5 !!

Well, considering that there are more ME-262 survivors than D model Focke Wulf's and that the FHC model is the only D-13 left, I would say it is not a hard decision to make.

That may be true but 262s are not exactly plentiful and chances of acquiring another one if it gets wrecked are probably about as good as finding another D13. Which is to say not much chance at all really. Just my .02 cents of course.

The IL-2 has been flying at FHC for over a year and the ME-262 has pictures and a article of both the plane and the engine in Cory Graf's new book "Flying Warbirds". 2 of the 3 Zero's will never fly again The D-13 engine hasn't been turned over for at least 6years. The engine for the BF-109 is in Tehachapi being rebuilt at Vintage V-12's. White Knight, the mother ship for Spaceship 1 flew in last fall and is hanging from the ceiling.

I'm waiting for the FHC Stuka to appear from nowhere like the Il-2 did - I'll never forget logging on and seeing that first photo of it flying in Russia! I'm prepared to wait...though I'm growing impatient

I was thinking the same thing the other day. With pictures of their rumored CASA 2.111 taken out of storage, and waiting to be shipped, you would think they are preparing to start their next restoration. Thus, are they near completion of one that us little folks don't know about?

Reading the article on the Jumo engine, it reads (to me) as if the ME 262 is restored, and just waiting for it's engines. Since the airframe wasn't a mess to begin with, and not needing a full, ground up restoration, maybe there was room to work on something else?

What about the Fw-189?

Was quite advanced when Jim Pierce had it many moons ago.

Cheers!
