I have a few of his books, has anyone else seen (or remember) his comics?
I was always a huge fan of them and thought they were a good look into the time

I've got a couple, plus a stack cut out of old magazines in the 70's.
LOVE his work!

I used to read Air Force magazine at the university library in the '70s, and my favorite part was alway the last page with his cartoons.

I have one, framed on a wall, that he did about me. When I was the executive editor of Flying Magazine, I used to do a monthly column called "Parallax," in which I tried to take unconventional views of relatively standard subjects. I once wrote one about how checklists were an unnecessary crutch and using memory was better--god knows why, other than that I had to come up with a new subject every month--and he drew a cartoon of me sitting in a Cessna pointing at my a** and saying "Checklist, schmecklist, I've got all I need to remember right here."

Pretty accurate depiction too since my photo appeared with the column...

I was in Air Force Junior ROTC in high school in the 80s, and I remember when a new AF magazine would come in, everyone always read the back page first.
I have all his "There I was..." books, really good stuff.

Is there a list somewhere? If there are any I don't have, I'd like to get 'em.

Don't have it all in front of me, but one of my interests is military cartoonists (I have one of the most substantial collections of Bill Mauldin stuff in private hands) and several years back I tracked down all Bob Stevens' books. One of the last compliations is really all you'd need as several of the prior books were folded into one.

I used to read Flying Magazine back then, and Parallax was one of my favorite columns to read. Baxter's was also a favorite of mine.

I don't know if there are more books (I guess google would tell me) but I own two of Steven's books:

Prop-wash
If you Read me, Rock the Tower.

Great stuff!!!

Saludos,

Always great to hear Gordon Baxter's name again. Not only loved his writing, but even got to hang out with the man himself once or twice (at small airports, natch). Also loved his radio show out of Beaumont. He liked to play that old country & western song "Amanda, you light up my life" and say it Alvin & the Chipmunks doing the backup vocals, haha. Pleasant memories from the 70's and early 80's...

Always great to see Stephan Wilkinson here!
