12 Volt Batteries used in the T-6

Mon Jun 30, 2014 4:46 pm

For those still running a 12 volt system- What Battery(ies) are you using?

TCDS states an Excide # that doesn't come up in my searches.
Rated at 66 amp hr.

Doesn't the Geico team fly three SNJ-2s? They may have updated to 28v but it might be worth an inquiry.

Hi Rich,

I don't believe Exide makes aviation batteries anymore. I think the Gill G-88 is your likely alternative. 65 amp rating (as you know, that is a big battery for a 12 volt system). It was certified for the Ayres ag plane. Do you reckon a form 337 should suffice for installation of a similar rated battery? Considering what you are using for, I would think so.

Pretty sure a Concord RG35A will work. According to Concorde battery replacement guide, this replaces the Exide AC-35, and Exide AC-78M
