I understand this aircraft is no longer in Franklin, VA. Any info on who the new buyer is?

Scott, IIRC it was bought by the group in Argentina that is restoring a B-25 to use as a parts plane.

Ah, I think you are right. I seem to remember hearing that too. Hmmm

We purchased the aircraft. The South American sale went through OK and they removed what they wanted.

We purchased the significant remains and have arranged for a US based company well versed in B-25's to conduct an assessment and create and inventory.

Once that is done she will be Australia bound. We should be in the US ourselves to view a number of other projects and to catch up for a very important

BBQ and some cold beers. :drink3:

Wow, I can't believe this was the same B-25 with "Chapter XI" nose art on it, having flown into an airshow in Florida I went to in the 80s. I still have good shots of her around here somewhere. She was such a good bird then...

Digger, what are your plans for the B-25? Parts? Static restoration? Flyer?

In the near future, inspection for

a) what is missing; and

b) what needs to be done to get her pulled down, packed and transported ready for export.

We have a couple of people helping out which is fantastic for us, it means we can continue to focus on the A-26
while at the same time the B-25 is being progressed. We hope to have her here by mid 2015 but more like late 2015.

it is intended the aircraft will be displayed as a static in the colours of 18 Squadron Netherland East Indies Air Force
as this group operated the J model. While all this is going on we’ll be collecting parts identified as needed for her
long term restoration to flight. We estimate 5 years.

However, everything is subject to change without notice as everyone knows warbirds run your life not the other way round.
but if lotto should come up then this could change time frames etc

It just goes to show you how quickly these birds can go downhill once you stop caring and maintaining them and why it is so important to look after the ones that we do have.

Good luck with the resto, Digger! Glad to see someone finally came to this bird's rescue.
