Re: Any help finding historic photos of "my" KC-135 58-0054

This photo was taken between 1960 and 63. It is KC-135A 57-1509. It belonged to the 901st Air Refueling Squadron of the 4228th Strategic Wing at Columbus AFB, Mississippi. I have lots of these kinds of slides and photos for my book.

I built a 1/72nd scale model of a similar-looking KC-135A for the 6th Air Refueling Squadron while I was stationed at Travis AFB, California. I modified the tail to the original short tail unpowered rudder. I used Rub-n-Buff to give it that natural metal look that seemed absolutely real. Then I added the day-glo orange. I heard recently that the model went missing from the Ready Room. I wish I had taken a photo of it.

Yeah, that's a pretty common photo now from the Biggs AFB website. It is a 93rd Air Refueling Squadron aircraft. It was visiting in 1959 as show of things to come for Biggs. The 917th Air Refueling Squadron was activated that May. It never belonged to the 917th or Biggs. It was transferred to the 903rd Air Refueling Squadron at Beale in 1963.
