Please forgive me for intruding.

I am out of my element as a submarine sailor with 22 years on WWII diesel boats and nuclear missile boat, unless my younger years count (my father retired at 28 years as aviation machinest mate 1932-1960 including time with the AVG).

I was fortunate, someone forwarded a link to your site with an great contribution about the USS Arizona.

I just wished to share a snippet. Pappy Boyington, leader of the "Black Sheep Squadron" was downed in the Pacific and because he was assumed KIA his MOH was presented to his wife. After released from the POW camp, President Truman presented the same medal to him in person. That is the reason there are two dates oforhe award in the Marine Corps Museum database. At the same ceremony a MOH was presented to Captain O'Kane (one of my great submarine skippers) by the president.

Just a tidbit - but we were fortunate having such men.
