Thanks for asking Owen, a publisher in the UK is looking at it, but nothing positive yet. By the way the book, Paint Locker Magic a History of Naval Aviation Special Markings and Art, will have some Corsair nose art never before published and some new stuff from Hal Olsen who is a live and well in NM.

There is nothing to report as far as I know. The the rework shop is off limits to visitors since the EPA and OSHA have enter the picture. I have been over to the NMNA on the ramp tour but the hangar doors are closed so I have nothing new to report on 02465. I am sure they are working on the display but you would have to see Capt. Robert L. “Bob” Rasmussen to gain admission.

And yet, if it weren't for the aforementioned "hoarders", this aircraft would still be at the bottom of the lake being slowly devoured by zebra mussels... remember, the NMNA funded the expedition to locate and identify the wrecks at the bottom of the lake back in the 90s. I know it's fashionable to crap on the NHC, and often times that's deserved, but not ALL the time... and in this particular instance, I think they deserve the benefit of the doubt, as early F4U-1s are incredibly rare. This one most certainly deserves to be in a museum, and the NMNA is a fantastic place to showcase this wonderful survivor.

(Whenever I think of this aircraft, I think of the fact that its recovery is owed to the very generous financial sponsorship of warbird owner/pilot Chuck Greenhill (who, as I recall, was also responsible for footing the bill for one of the recent Wildcat recoveries as well). Pretty incredible for an individual to invest that much, for planes that are not his, to ensure that history, in the form of these aircraft, is preserved for generations to come.)
