60 Minutes last night

Mon Nov 24, 2014 4:11 pm

Did anyone watch 60 Minutes last night? There was a segment about a group called the Bentprop Project who's mission if to locate MIA airmen missing in WW2. They were working in and around the Palau Islands where they have been successful in locating human remains in and around the wreckage of a B-24 and an Avenger. At this point the US Government is notified and they undertake the recovery and return these long missing soldiers home. This organization works without any government funds which I find so admirable. :) :) check the groups website out at www.bentprop.org There is additional footage at www.cbsnews.com/60-minutes/overtime. click onto "diving deep for the forgotten" At the end of the segment I felt so good about ordinary citizens doing what they can to bring MIA's home. :)

It was a great story - I would like to someday have enough money to be able to join them on a trip. I don't have a whole lot of archaeology skills but I could certainly pack tools and equipment and any general "gofer" assignments.

I know there are other organizations that deserve credit for their searches of MIA's as well. Didnt someone recently discover 100 or so Marines still buried on Tawara?

I've been following the Bent Prop Project on their website for a couple of years now. They are doing really good work & actually get results.

I thought that Moore's Marauder's was the real deal too, until I saw this http://miacharities.net/ the other day. Really bummed me out. Seems like the head cheese of that outfit was taking some lessons from another group, but got a little carried away.
