Since Mark Allen M is always giving us a great collection of requested subject matter, I was reading another topic and instead of hijacking that topic how about a few(ok, a lot) of pictures of what it took to conceive, design, engineer and finally build all those WWII aircraft.

Great Corsair pics! One question though regarding the Royal Navy one posted towards the bottom captioned "F3A-1A of the Royal Navy is on the ground at NATC Patuxent River"... what's up with the wings on that one? I know that the Royal Navy Corsairs clipped a foot or two off the wingtips for more clearance below decks, but the wings on that one just look weird. Wider chord with minimal taper, plus the airfoil just looks fat all the way to the wingtips, no taper there either. Looks like wings for a Cherokee 140! Since this was at Pax River, was this an experimental wing configuration?

From what I understand it was some sort of high-lift wing program conducted by Brewster.
