Because South Korea had combat troops in Vietnam in the 60s.

Not only is the B-26 a Vietnam era "K" variant..but the C-123 is also has the Vietnam -era jet pods making it a C-123K.
The C-123 never saw service in the Korean War...it was a couple of years too late.
