A new Skyraider pilot

Fri Oct 24, 2014 7:59 am

After years of dreaming, I was finally able to make this a reality: adding Douglas Skyraider to my pilot certificate on Wednesday. Big thanks go out to the entire team at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum, particularly their dedicated maintenance staff, for even making this possible. Doug Jeanes, IP Stuart Milson, Chuck Gardner, Russell, Ed, Patrick, Ben, Brian, & Joe each helped me somewhere along the way - THANKS! Examiner (& Rare Bear pilot) Stew Dawson was thorough, fair, and a blast to fly with. Shout outs also go to my wife Jennifer, Aeroshell's Mark Henley, plus A-1 veterans "Hook" Hukee of skyraider.org, and Col Win DePoorter for their mentoring & support.

Great job Ken. The right pilot for the right airplane. Very best for you leading forward. Safe and happy flying.

Very cool, even if it is in USN colors instead of USAF or VNAF. :drink3:

Now, the big question is, Did you and the Skyraider have anything to do with the P-51 Big Beautiful Doll having to belly land ? seems like too much of a coincidence to me.

Is that the same data plate the Skyraider ate in England?
