Any updates for the Soplata collection

IMHO the stuff there is still in good shape and will always be. Anything can be refurbished.

Not really in that good of shape. At least some of them. I saw some of the work that had to go into the B-25 when it was under restoration when it came out of there 15 years or more ago and it was rough. The other one looks equally as bad from the photos recently posted.

The longer that stuff sits and the weeds grow up around it, trapping moisture etc the worse it is going to get. Some of them are probably beyond economic restoration now....

Well it depends upon the type of restoration. For any of them to be airworthy, you better have really deep pockets but for them to be a decent static display could be feasible. Yes there is the question of moisture but at least there is no salt air.

I am collecting parts cause I see it as something that can also be displayed at museums. Whole airplanes are nice, but just the parts themselves are interesting.

Here's the rear end of the T-bolt as it looked 32 years ago during a legit visit. I remember Walter fondly, he was quite a guy, very keen on saving anything he could from the smelter...and I think I got into his good books instantly by going batcrap nuts at the sight of his F2G racer! He was as delighted as I was...



BTW, the CF-100 and HP Victor bits he had he found out about from me; I too was, and am, keen on saving whatever can be from becoming beer cans...and yes, Peter, it would be nice to see the Clunk parts come home to Canada...especially if the former TAM gets going again and would like to plug a gap in their collection with, say, an interactive CF-100 cockpit display...

Hmmmm! Makes me wonder what happened to the tail section, when I was there all I seen was the fuselage resting on the ground.
