I think they were looking for a replacement for their DC-7s (or were they DC-6s?).

They no longer do drops, just serve as airborn CP.

So the Dash 8Q-400 is a fast and powerful plane, able to fill the bill!

Yes but I was just thinking of the advantage of being able to scoop water from lakes or rivers and going back to the fire. But it brings more work to Canada with the Dash 8 so that is fine. Now if the US would do something. :?
