The other day I stumbled upon a pic of a DC-4 Air Tanker that was captioned as a "Super DC-4". I did a little surfing and what little I could find is that it is a DC-4 modified with the apparently plentiful R-2600/B-25 engine/cowl/prop, like PB4Y's and PBY's. Is it pretty much that straightforward? Any other mods? Was the mod done specifically for firebombing or were some of the freighters converted as well? Thanks for any info.
