Okay, I just got some pictures via email that show the South African T-6 Team doing what appears to be formation low level flight so that their wheels skim the surface of the water. No way this is real right? Someone with photoshop did a neat trick I assume.

I know a guy who used to do that with a Stearman. We have what we call rice canals. They aren't very wide and they run very straight across the country. They are also more elevated than the surrounding countryside.

Saw a pic of wrecked Thrush Commander parked on the bank of a Sudanese canal - as I recall the official story was a technical problem or something, the reality was that he was water skiing up the canal by way of a little light relief when he cocked up...

Jeez, looks real to me! Must be a darn sight harder than doing it in a Super Cub where at least you can see the wheels!
Mind you we had some good clips on the telly recently here in the UK of Icelandic loonies driving their off roaders across lakes - full throttle and the tyres skimmed the surface fairly well.

Way to cool!!!!!!!!!! I've seen pics of Cubs, Supercubs, Stearmans doing this, but never in formation!!!!! 
Keep in mind that at these high speeds the water is pretty firm....just don't screw up! Notice they have just a bit of flap....I'll bet they are cooking along around 120? Any ideas? Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is this for real? Sorry guys but I'll be needing some confirmation. Any mpg files available of this? Like a few others, I've seen this done with a Cub but a Harvard? One Harvard doing it would be amazing but a formation? Come on. If this is real, these guys must have nerves of steel and the largest stones in town.

Why don't they just clean their tyres the same as everyone else????
with a brush and bucket of water!
