Warbird Information Exchange

Nothing grand or fancy. An idea was created among some individuals to see about a "gate guard" at the local CGAS or a display in the local town to bring some historical awareness about the CG's aviation role on the Great Lakes. First things first....is there an old airframe out there rusting away that needs a prospective home and some cosmetic TLC? Otherwise, if not....it was a nice idea. Got a couple of HH-52's in storage but a shiny F/W maybe more sexy to the public. Went to the internet to pull a couple examples. This is the one in ECity, NC



This is the one at CGAS Clearwater. It was the old HU-16 that was at the Pate Museum a few years ago now in CG tail feathers.

Answer, fly it where ever you can. Having had the privilege once, 10 years ago, I can say it's a great aircraft to be in.

Ray Wolfe (HU-16.com and SeaplaneOps.com) and Dennis Buehn (American Warbirds in Carson City, NV) are the Albatross experts - they probably keep track of what's where, etc. Which ones are flyable, which ones are in restoration, & which ones are dormant or derelict, etc.
