Hope ya's don't mind but someone suggested a dedicated thread to this series of historic events. Is the thread title correct? Post away folks.

Think it could have all just stayed together as the first thread is already three pages long, but nice video none the less.

With an altogether different meaning title, but not a problem, the mods can splice em together if so inclined.

Best video I've seen yet!
I understand how Lanc's flew their missions in combat and I'm sure there's also a safety reason for it, but does it bother anyone else that in every video I've seen since the CWH's Lanc arrived, these two beautiful birds are only flown flying in trail?

How about a two ship, side-by-side fly-by! In trail makes it difficult to get a good photo of both in the frame. They made the effort to get that baby over to the UK, maybe they should get a couple of good shots of them "together" in the air.

I'm sure there are my reasons, since it's obvious a lot of effort and planning has gone into to the event. BBMF takes things seriously, as they should, and perhaps it's something to do with their protocol when flying with non-BBMF pilots. CWH has flown it in formation with many other aircraft over the years, but there are ways around obstacles, especially if this is a once in a lifetime event.
My two cents!

Lots of new videos being posted online. Best way to find them is to Google the past 24 hours. Some nice stuff out there and a bit shaky on a few as well.

Great looking old airplanes, one of the very best designs ever. Great job by the folks involved.

I have been thinking the same thing too. Hopefully they will do a two ship Delta formation at some point.

What needs to happen is the BBMF needs to come over to the other side of the Atlantic and they can perform a Diamond Formation; Two Lancs in 1 and 4 positions and two Mossy's in 2 and 3. Now that would be a sight to see!

The mass Lanc formations are a 75 (NZ) Squadron RAF stunt, see

The display they fly at the moment is the only one they will be flying in public, as it was signed off yesterday morning by the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) when their Public Display Authority (PDA) was granted. The same goes for all RAF display assets, the routine is vetted carefully before being signed off.

That is not to say, however, that there won't be air-to-air photo shoots and the like done in formation, not just in trail. I believe that there will be a rather special one-off photo shoot done next Thurdsay afternoon.

Thx Senor ErrolC for stating the source of the formation photos as I didn't know where they came from originally. And your very welcome Senor Lightjug. Neat looking stuff indeed :drink3:
