I've not handled anything similar in my experience, the zippers to me indicate something stowed and not used readily. Its not the right shape for a main or reserve chute IMO, could equally be immediate postwar as well. Just my two cents

And a little note, as some may not be familiar with it - 'Pty. Ltd.' is common in Australia, and stands for 'Proprietary Limited', similar (but legally distinct to) the familiar 'Ltd.' in the US and UK.

Thanks all for your input. I had a hunch it was some type of survival kit with all the pouches and zippers. It sure made it a long way from Australia to Baltimore, Maryland!
