This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I think Pima has the most proficient restoration team on the planet!

I second the motion! Natural metal or silver with the anti-flash belly would be very welcome on the G.

Sorry guys they are keeping their current paint schemes. We do have the silver B-52A so they aren't all boring dull colors.

James, what is the history of the A-24? Where did it come from, etc?

There is a great feature on this site called the Warbird Registry, you ought to check it out sometime

The registry in certain areas is woefully out of date.

While I too feel that Pima has an excellent team, the museum at March and the Midway Museum also have great teams as well.

Any immediate plans for the ex-NASM Boeing 727?

The 727 will be waiting until the B-52s are done.
The A-24 is on loan to us from the Military Aircraft Restoration Corp. It went straight from the factory to storage. Was bought surplus by MGM and used as a wind machine. It used to be at MAPS where it served as a parts donor for the other one they had. It came here from MAPS several years ago.

Great update, James! Thanks for taking the time to share with the rest of us. Question on the A-24... are you going to paint it to represent a true A-24, or are you going to do it up as a pseudo-SBD? Just curious.

Neat! Thanks for the info. And good luck with that project. I think that yours will be only the second A-24 painted in true A-24 colors, the other being the one in Dayton. All other SBDs are painted as SBDs.
Keep up the good work!

Funnily enough, I visited all three in January!
I keep my photos on Flickr. See the 2014 US Boneyard & Storage collection at
https://www.flickr.com/photos/elaref/collections/But having first visited in 1974, before it was even opened, it would be my favourite of the three.
Will be back again in 2015, so look forward to more updates

I can already sense that more than few hours will be spent perusing your albums! Excellent!
