I'm goin!, My first time to this show,best spot to take fly-by photo's?

Steve - The great thing about this show is that even with an impressive line up of warbirds the flight line is generally not that long and it is very easy to get a spot near show center so there is really no bad seat in the house. We like to say that we are the biggest small show around.
We are also working on setting up some reserved seating this year which may further insure a good spot for taking pictures. Still working out the details on this one.
Also wondering what the response would be to a special photo admission prior to the regular gate opening similar to what they did last year at Yankee's show.

If the sun is out, you can get some really outstanding static shots if you're first in line at the gate. They key is to get there as early as possible while the sun is low in sky. During the last two years I lived in Houston, I volunteered to sell soda at the show (I'm a member) which got me in early. After I helped set up the soda stand, there was usually enough time to get some good shots before the crowd came in.

Another tip if you're a gambler, don't let gray, drizzly skys deter you. A couple of times my drive from Katy to Galveston was gray and misty all the way to Texas City only to magically clear once I got on the Island. (I DO NOT GUARANTEE THE WEATHER ,,,, however, I found it worth the chance in the past ).

Now that I'm living in PA, I miss the spring and fall LSFM events.

Highly recommended show. I've been there the last two years. Not too crowded and the Lone Star team is a great bunch! Only downside (and this is for photographers mostly) is that the airshow crowd is on the east side of the runway, so the better photos will be taken in the morning (if sunny). In the afternoon, the sunlight will create shadows on the fuselage and near wing of aircraft making photo passes. Get there early for static shots of the flightline. In addition to Lone Star's outstanding collection, the guests last year included P-51 and P-40 from Cavanaugh Flight Museum (we'll be back again this year), USAF A-10 demo team, USAF T-6A static display, FedEx Caravan static display. No pyro last year, but the pyro during the 2004 show was impressive. See you there!

Steve S. What is special photo admission about?

We have not tried this before but are thinking about it. At Thunder Over Michigan, they allow photographers in earlier than the general public. Thats what "special photo admission" is...but this is not confirmed as of yet. Stay tuned!

I'm a photographer! Or do U mean those that do it for magizines,internet, ect...?

At Thunder Over Michigan you can buy a Photo Tour pass that gets you in at 7 AM when the gates don't open until 9 AM. It is an extra charge, but is available to everyone.

Hope you do go with it I would pay extra for that, and too bad the Hurricane wont be done in time for LSFM Airshow. Now we just need to get the wonderful Bearcat up!!!!!!!!

Elroy, thank's for the info. Is there any word on this becoming reality? I would be coming down about a half day before the show, hopefully before the museum closes. Are tickets usually on sale before the event @ the museum?

Its still in the works. But if does happen it will probably be on the Sunday show only. April 30th. Thats all i can really say at this time. Once we get everything nailed in place and a green light, I will post about it.
