...so anyone remember that ex-Glenview Cougar in AZ?
I wish I'd scanned and digitized all the "Warbird Report" columns from my 1980s Air Classics magazines; there was another shot of a Panther/Cougar somewhere that had been removed from a playground and was upside down in a rolloff dumpster :( .

just noticed, but the cougar's nose landing gear is somewhat "jacked up" compared to the panther's, probably because leon's cougars were settling in the ground after numerous years. his were the closest i'd ever got to one. if I remember correctly his were photo recon versions w/ re-fueling probes & nose mounted camera ports.

Joe,
Looking first at the Argentine ones:
0425 is ex 127207. It is inside the restoration hangar on base and not on public display.
0452 is ex 127171
0453 is ex 127206
I missed off a fourth:
0421 is pole-mounted at the Puerto Belgrano naval base (last noted Nov05). It is ex 125116.
I don’t think there are any more in Argentina. By the way, your “c/n 425” is actually the Argentine Navy serial, 0425 in this case.

Moving on to your USA swept-wing list:

Now for a “few” others, extracted from my “USA Military Out of Service 2007”:

134451 is under restoration at Reno/Stead NV (Dec09). It used to be at the Canyon State Academy in Mesa AZ.
141058 is at the Historic Aviation Memorial Museum at Tyler Pounds TX. It is sitting stripped outside the maintenance hangar, where I saw it in Dec09.

146417 is at the Captain Michael King Smith Evergreen Aviation Educational Institute at McMinnville (l/n Oct09).
147287 was at Kissimmee (Nov97-Nov05) but is thought to have moved on.
147418 is stored at Camp Shelby MS (Mar04-Sep08). It is due to go to the Veterans Memorial Museum at Huntsville AL.
An unidentified F9F-6P is in the Walter M Kenney park at Tonawanda NY (l/n Jul09).

I am surprised to see that this list does not include the swept-wing prototype, F9F-6 126670, stored at the NASM Garber Facilty.

hang the expense - Always interesting to review lists of the warbirds around the country and world. Andy Marden's list that you provided was updated by me in the July 06, 2013 response (page 3 in this blog). The F9F-6P & F9F-8P info is still current - please note the wrong ID on the 8P which I corrected.
Regards...Leon C.

Additionally, no mention of BuNo: 147418. Located at Huntsville Veteran's Memorial Museum. It is being restored for static display for the Museum. It was on a stick at Camp Shelby, MS (outside Hattiesburg) prior.

Update to this information:

James Clemens High School in Madison, AL (next town over from Huntsville) has secured the permanent loan of BuNo 147418 from the Navy to restore the acft and mount it in a flight position in front of their school as their official mascot, the "James Clemens Jets". The acft is currently still at the Huntsville Veteran's Musuem until it makes its journey to the Huntsville International Airport where it will be hangared undergoing restoration for static display.

Wasn't there a F9F outside a store in Georgia or Alabama. It was mentioned a few years back.

A quick update - the Moton Field Cougar arrived at the Hickory Aviation Museum on Tuesday. I'll be up there this weekend, and will post some photos.
