Nice show, I enjoyed it far more than that History Channel effort.

Good program, a bit more general history that most of us already know.

And did you notice the part about halfway through when they're taking about allied bombing to soften up the area...they show a B-24, C-47 and a Ju-88!

Also in the script they discussing the need for gliders. They say how do you get troops behind enemy lines "when you don't have Apache helicopters?".
Well an Apache won't do you as lot of good if you're trying to move troops.
Blackhawks, Chinooks...even Hueys and H-19s, fine. Apaches...not so much.

I figure if you wanted my opinion on items unrelated to this forum, you'd ask for it.

I thought it was a pretty decent effort for a TV documentary aimed at a mass audience. I got a chuckle when they showed a little computer animation of a CG-4A with Horsa wings.

I definitely got choked up when they did the "Saving Private Ryan" scene in the cemetary, but in real life..when the old vet visits his buddy's grave after returning to Normandy for the first time since the war.

I didn't see this show, but I can certainly relate to the choking up at the "Saving Private Ryan" scene. I've been there with my dad. Three guys that he grew up with and served with were a crew together in a tank that was hit during the battle for Caen (dad was the driver of another tank). The guys are all buried together in Beny Sur Mer which we visited back in 91, a very emotional experience.

The nite before this show aired, Frontline did a show called D Day 360. That was excellant! Hopefully it will be on again for those that missed it.
