That is exciting news indeed, Jim, although one has to be a bit wary of these major 'AirVenture' announcements. For all we know they could be planning a Vietnam commemoration involving a bunch of L-birds flying racetrack patterns over Lake Winnebago; a squadron or two of T-6's or T-28's criss-crossing the skies at medium altitude for improved sound effect; a MiG-21 flying over I-41 (i.e. behind the crowd) to draw the attention of the tourists; and since it is a US airshow and since Cavalier rebuilt some for PAVE COIN, the mandatory P-51 mock-strafing the runway in front of the world's biggest smokescreen.

The less common Vietnam types or acts (F-4, A-4, C-123, AAHF, ...) do not come for free AFAIK and I therefore do not expect them.

I will be there, of course, but I'm hoping in the course of that week to see some other types that haven't been mentioned here yet, e.g. the newly-restored DL-1B (aka Lockheed Vega), or perhaps the PB4Y on its way to Thunder over Michigan.

PS Should people mistakenly think that I am slagging off a major part of the warbird owners bringing their aircraft to Oshkosh: I am not. In principle I will photograph every warbird (and many other types) that passes in front of me, and I also thank the owners that have brought their planes. But the question always is: what will pass in front of me, and what will be sent to 09/27 and from there on to Lake Winnebago or other places than the threshold of 18/36.

Your comment above is incorrect. The following involve aerial demonstrations from Airventure 2010. The only reimbursement was for fuel consumed during the demonstration.

I'm kind of partial to F-86's myself. I'd be nice to see more of those things at Oshkosh, almost would make me think of another visit to Wisconsin in the Summer

Me too on the '86 infatuation...would love to fly one...time will tell. Just checked out on the MiG-15/17, cool stuff. 8) Let me know on Oshkosh Mark, I can put ypu up but you'll have to put up with more than a few recognizable characters and degenerates.

I just may make another 'cameo' in Wisconsin this Summer indeed. If I do it would only be for the day driving up from O'Hare. 8)
... and how many more 'Sabres' do I have to post before you fess up dude! pop2

Haven't seen anyone mention the Thunderbirds yet in this thread. Chairman's conference call last night said they will arrive Thursday, fly at the beginning of the show (6-ish) Friday & Saturday and at 3 on Sunday. Apparently a T-bird show at any other time than 3 PM is quite rare - needed the concession to allow the businesses on the east side to function normally during their regular working hours. I suppose there will be no spectators allowed on the roofs during these shows.

If only this rain would let up...

The Warbirds in Review line up has been announced:
Quote:
May 22, 2014 - Experience military aviation history with some of the most storied aircraft ever built told by the heroic veterans who flew them as the EAA Warbirds of America hosts twice-daily (10 a.m. and 1 p.m., Monday through Saturday) Warbirds in Review presentations at EAA AirVenture’s Warbird Alley.

These informational sessions explore an aircraft’s wartime operation and restoration, while veterans share stories about what it was like to fly the aircraft in combat or support the operation as a ground crew member.

Preceding the daily presentations at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., the Warbirds Living History Group re-enactors will do an educational talk/demonstration regarding the flight gear associated with the upcoming aircraft. Singers will also provide entertainment from the 1940s-1960s just prior to actual Warbirds in Review sessions. All Vietnam veterans in attendance will be recognized before each session, and book signing opportunities will follow in the Warbirds Merchandise Building.

Great to see the Fagen Fighters B-25 being planned to attend. When I was at Aero Trader earlier this month, they were in final preparations for painting it, and I'm sure it has been by now.
