F4U-1 (yes, -1) Corsairs in Korea?

Fri May 02, 2014 3:04 pm

I stumbled upon this pic of a video on eBay and it is about an event during the Korean War. It clearly shows 3 bladed prop Corsairs. I have always been under the impression that -4s and -5s were in Korea and any -1s were stateside or at least non-combat. Is this a bogus pic or what? Thanks. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BATTLE-HISTORY- ... 58abc5cf60

Bogus.

The pic is either photoshopped/faked or it shows some WWII island fighting (note the flamethrower).

Looks like a staged photo to me.

A quick google search shows It's the cover photo from a movie (made in Korea in 2011). As many US movies used incorrect aircraft to depict battles, it isn't surprising that a Korean film might have a minor technical error.

I believe the photo is from a training excercise in the U.S. or a screen shot from one of the many post-war made WWII movies.
